10 Reasons Why Your Brand Should Be Active On Instagram

By | Instagram Marketing | No Comments

There is a lot going on recently when it comes to Instagram, and most of it relates to the huge business potential you may be missing on. The truth is, business owners and marketers hardly blend Instagram as one of their goal-driven social media networks, mainly because of the informal aspect of the network itself.

Well, guess what… That exact informal approach makes people love Instagram – and creates that huge potential when it comes to building a large follower base online.

So, Why Use Instagram For Your Business?

According to many studies, it was found that Instagram is one of the best social media networks when it comes to levels of engagement and brand awareness. Moreover, we can say that building brand awareness on this network is quite easy. All you have to do is visualize the purpose of your brand and attract new leads and customers.

Let’s share some more eye-opening stats about Instagram – and how it can help your business.

1. It Has A Massive User Base

First and foremost, it is safe to say that Instagram has more than 500 million monthly active users, which is a large base to target if you are a brand. The 60 million posted photos per day, 17,000 likes per second and 2,000 comments per second on average add up to a lot of potential stats that let us know that Instagram has grown a lot, and it continues to do so as we speak.

2. Brands Have Made Their Move, Have You?

According to recent studies, it was found that even 90% of the Interbrand 100 companies now have Instagram accounts. That being said, we can safely say that the number of active brands on Instagram is building up as we speak and is more than doubled than the one in 2012 and 2013 combined. Not only they have profiles, but over 80% of the Intercom 100’s are also active on Instagram on a weekly basis. After all, isn’t that the point?

3. It’s A Paradise For U.S. Consumers

Instagram is the wonderland if you aim at penetrating the US marketplace digitally. Wondering why?
Well, reports have shown that almost 30% of the total population in the US uses Instagram – and more than 77 million US users are active at least once a month. This number is expected to rise to more than 100 million by 2018. The most interesting fact is that most of the users fall under the millennial generation which is the most purchasing one as well.

4. It’s Engagement Keeps On Growing

The engagement per post on Instagram has a rate of massive 53% year over year, which means that posts are not ditched too easy on Instagram. According to some research, it was found that posts that include one hashtag and a location are getting the most engagement.

5. The Average In-App Time Is Amazing

Unlike many other social networks, Instagram is proud to ‘keep’ its users ‘locked’ inside the app for around 21 minutes on average – according to reports. This is a great thing to know for your business and means that users love this platform to the last bit.

6. Photos Get People More Engaged, Compared To Videos

The average engagement per photo outperforms the one with videos on Instagram. In numbers, the photo engagement averages around 35k people per post, while the video keeps at a solid pace at 20k per post accordingly.

7. The Key Is Visual Content

Another golden nugget for your business, and a great tip to take advantage of is to post visuals. Research says that users love them a lot and process them even 60,000 times faster in the brain than text. Which means that it’s time to ditch your generic text ads and shift to visuals.

In a nutshell, consumers respond better to visuals because they can easily remember them and respond better to them, coming from the fact that most of the human communication is nonverbal and that our brains absorb information as visual rather than textual.

8. Showing Your (Brand) Personality Has Never Been Easier

Every business has a story and personality, and it’s up to you to (know how to) tell yours online. Instagram is all about helping you do that – whether you are a solopreneur or a large corporation. Whether it’s an office mascot you are proud with, a team of experts that knows what they are doing or a special holiday decor at your office, Instagram is your unique canvas.

9. It’s Not Only For Businesses That Sell Products

You would guess that Instagram is great for showing off products through photos and videos, and you wouldn’t be wrong. However, Instagram goes beyond that line and lets businesses that sell services to grow their followings as well. How?

Well, the best-case scenarios are to showcase images of projects you are working on, client locations, staff members, cities you visit or any other aspect that may be interesting to a potential customer of your service.

10. It Lets You Take Advantage Of User Generated Content (UGC)

User generated content (also known as UGC) is a massive trend now. If you are on Instagram, you may have seen the way customers create photos and videos about particular products or services.

Did you know that now, you can take advantage of this content and repurpose it in your own strategy?

Not only this will help you grow your business on Instagram it will also help you communicate with your following on a whole new level.

We Think It’s About Time You Start Making Most Of Instagram….

Instagram has become a vital social network over the years. What was once a privilege to every business is nowadays a common need. This social network works wonders for businesses of all types and sizes and aside from letting you spread the word out, it helps you track how your business is doing out there.

Thanks to the new updates, advertising is also possible on Instagram as of recently. You can target the users that share the same interests as your brand and like the same things – and ensure maximum conversion!

So, what are you waiting for? Strike while the iron is hot.

11 Surefire Ways to Grow Your Instagram Followers

By | Instagram Marketing

Having a larger Instagram following can mean more sales for your business, more views on your blog, and a stronger community for your brand. But how in the world do some people have thousands of Instagram followers? Today, I’ve got 11 actionable tips to help you grow your Instagram followers.

1. LIKE PHOTOS IN YOUR NICHE.

I attended an online conference where Susan Petersen (CEO of Freshly Picked) talked about how she grew her Instagram to have almost 400,000 followers. She said that in the early days, she would spend hours liking other people’s photos each night. Her suggestion? Go through and like 5-10 photos on someone’s account. It would also help to leave a genuine comment and give them a follow. This helps to get your name out there and allows other users to discover you.  I’d also suggest doing this primarily to users in your niche. How to find users in your niche? Check hashtags, or view the followers of your favorite Instagrammers. Overall, be authentic and not spammy — ain’t nobody got time fo’ spam.

2. CREATE A THEME FOR YOUR PHOTOS.

Cool, so if you followed #1, people will naturally start to notice your username and may check out your account…give them something to fall in love with! I’ve found that it really helps to create a theme for your Instagram. Write down a few words that you want people to associate with your account. For mine, I hope people glean that it’s bright, artistic, and full of love. Which words would you use for your account? Once you’ve settled on a theme, try your hardest to stick to it! A few accounts that are killin’ it? Studio DIY, Wonderforest, and Jessica Safko!

3. SOCIALIZE.

It ain’t called social media for nothin’! Respond to the comments you receive and leave comments of your own on others’ work. Rather than something stale like, “cute dress,” try to leave genuine comments that encourage them to post more photos.

4. CREATE A HASHTAG AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS TO USE IT, TOO.

This is a great way to build community and gain new content for your account. First of all, create a unique hashtag (make sure it’s not already being used!) and ask others to use it. It works best if the hashtag has a specific purpose. For example, A Beautiful Mess encourages followers to use #ABMLifeIsColorful on all of their colorful, happy photos. Once people start using your hashtag (and YOU use it, too!), then you can repost images from your followers (giving them proper credit, of course!). Not only does this build community by showing your followers that you appreciate their photos, but it also gives you content for your own account.

5. RUN A CONTEST.

If you have something you’d like to give away, try running a contest. Some ideas? Have users repost a specific image and tag you in the caption. Or ask them to use your hashtag on their own images. You could even try a loop giveaway, if you want to collaborate with other Instagrammers.

6. ASK YOUR OTHER FOLLOWERS TO FOLLOW YOU ON INSTAGRAM!

If you have a blog, Twitter, or Facebook, then you might assume your people are already following you on every platform. Hint: they probably aren’t! Share a quick tweet encouraging them to follow you on Instagram…it will reel in more followers than you think.

7. ENCOURAGE FOLLOWERS TO TAKE ACTION.

As simple as it may sound, people are more likely to do something if you ask them to do it. Sharing a quote? Ask them to “like” your photo if they agree with it! Sharing something funny or relatable? Ask your followers to tag a friend! If you put the idea out there, it will encourage your followers to act accordingly.

8. GEOTAG YOUR PHOTOS.

Posting a photo of that cool restaurant or city you recently visited? Geotag it! That way, other people who used the same geotag can see your photo and potentially follow you since you now have so much in common (like that french toast you both had last weekend). 😉 In case you’re confused, geotagging your photos means you tag it with a location.

9. FIGURE OUT WHAT YOUR AUDIENCE LIKES.

Do a little research, yo. Go back through your photos and see which ones got the most likes and comments — and of course, the least. What clicks with your audience and why? How can you incorporate more photos like that into your feed?

10. LINK YOUR INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT TO YOUR OTHER NETWORKS.

Similar to #6, this will help your followers on other networks discover your Instagram account — and proceed to follow you there, too!

11. APPROACH POPULAR USERS TO COLLABORATE.

Think outside the box! Ask another Instagrammer if you can “take over their account” for the day as a guest contributor. Or start an Instagram challenge with daily prompts. Ultimately, think of fun, creative ways to collaborate with other users.

Are you already using Instagram for marketing?

Do you plan to include Instagram (IG) as part of your marketing strategy in 2016?

Instagram is already massive and it’s continuing to grow: In 2015, it was the fastest growing social network, and it shows no signs of slowing down, with 2016 growth estimated at 15% (and another 11% in 2017).

Some key insights from the infographic include:

1. Instagram is already huge
The social network has 400 million active users who share more than 80 million photos each day. Moreover, it has become massively popular both domestically—26% of Americans are on Instagram—and internationally (76% of users come from outside the United States).

2. It’s growing rapidly
Instagram’s user base has jumped by 4X in the last two years, and is projected to grow by 16% next year. By 2019 it’s estimated that one third of all people in the United States will be active users of the platform.

3. Instagram has a young and passionate user base
Instagram has one of the youngest user bases of any social network; some 53% of the platform’s users are under the age of 29 and 62% of Americans ages 12–17 are on the network. In fact, 32% of U.S. teens say Instagram is the most important social network in their lives—the most of any platform.

4. Its audience is highly engaged
Not only does Instagram have a lot of users, it also has a lot of highly engaged users. Nearly half (49%) of active users check the platform daily, and the average brand post gets 120X more interactions compared with Twitter.

5. Instagram is positioned perfectly for the future
With its 100% mobile user base, highly visual feed, new curation tools, and expanded messaging capabilities, Instagram is perfectly positioned to capitalize on the biggest emerging social and commerce trends.

How to REALLY make money on Instagram

By | Instagram Marketing

In the past year, Instagram has become a real force to be reckoned with in the marketing world.

Since 2015, it has gained 100 million monthly active users, with the total currently sitting at a hefty 400 million monthly and 75 million daily users.

That’s pretty astonishing. So it’s no surprise that brands are now dedicating a substantial percentage of their social media marketing budget to this image heavy channel.

So what does that mean for you?

Well, now is the perfect time to cash in on its growing popularity.

If you’re prepared to put in the time and commitment, you can easily find yourself in a position where you can start making serious money from your Instagram account.

Still not sure what to do?

No sweat! I’ll guide you through the main ways to cultivate an income through Instagram and make a name for yourself in all the right places.

Ready? Then let’s begin.

[gap height=”20″ /]

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO FIRST: ATTRACT FOLLOWERS

[gap height=”20″ /]

First thing’s first: what’s your following like? You should know from the start that most brands will expect a strong and loyal following in order to build a working partnership. If you’re lacking in this department, there are a few simple ways you can increase your amount of followers whilst building a professional look for your account. To get a shortcut and grow you followers count by thousands in a few days, click here.

[gap height=”20″ /]
  • Fill out your bio with all the right information: This includes your contact information, what you post about and where you’re from. Add in a few keywords and even a couple of hashtags to ensure you’re easily findable by the right kind of followers. Something like: Beauty Blogger from San Francisco with a penchant for travel. Business inquiry: [email protected]
    [gap height=”20″ /]
  • Post regularly: To grow numbers, you want to be posting several images every day… but be warned, don’t post all at once or this will actually work against you! If you can’t commit to that many posts, then just make sure you are publishing one quality photo every day.
    [gap height=”20″ /]
  • Take good photos: Which leads me to my next point! Make sure your images are of the best quality with attractive effects. There’s no point posting a weak image, so really take your time to make sure you are producing ones of the highest quality.
    [gap height=”20″ /]
  • Use relevant hashtags: It’s unlikely your images are going to travel very far without relevant hashtags. Familiarise yourself with the best ones to do with your field of interest and make sure you are including them in every single post. I am using the TagForLikes app for ideas and to save my custom ones.
    [gap height=”20″ /]
  • Engage with your followers: You cannot expect all interaction to come directly to you. Make time every single day to engage with your followers or anyone involved in your industry by commenting on and liking images. If you communicate with authentic content, people will be drawn to check out your account and, hopefully, join your loyal rank of followers.
    [gap height=”20″ /]
  • Get more likes on you posts: It doesn’t matter much if you have a huge following if your photos are not getting as much likes as you deserve to look congruent. The amount of likes you get plays a huge role on how you’ll be impacting and influencing your followers. This system will make sure you get high quantities of likes on every single new upload.

Okay, so you’ve boosted your follower count – sweet! Now it’s time to start making money.

HOW-TO: MAKE MONEY ON INSTAGRAM

[gap height=”20″ /]

1. Affiliate Marketing

[gap height=”20″ /]

Affiliate marketing is basically when you promote a product and get paid per sale. You’ll often see bloggers doing this with sidebar banners promoting their partners (affiliates), or even through specific product inspired posts. Well, it’s not much different with Instagram.

With Instagram, you post attractive images highlighting their products and drive sales through your affiliate URL (this should be provided by your affiliate).

There are quite a few companies you can work with here. Here are some:

Here’s an example, see how Kristyn from GlamourZine promote those over the knee boots?

I like to know it Marketing

You can put your affiliate URL on your captions or on your bio. You can either use bitly.com to shorten and customize your affiliate link OR you can hook up your blog and Instagram profile so that when people purchase through your link, you get a sale.

It really couldn’t be easier. This type of marketing is particularly popular with clothing on Instagram, as you can post your “OOTD” (outfit of the day) with the affiliate link sending followers to your full outfit details.

For those involved in the travel industry (or simply those that love to travel – ahem, all of us!), you could try to set up and use affiliate marketing when taking part in reviews for hotels and venues. Simply direct followers to book through your link!

It’s also great for beauty bloggers, as you can invite people to “shop the look.” These methods are subtler and, as such, more effective than a direct sales type pitch.

[gap height=”20″ /]

2. Become A Brand Ambassador

[gap height=”20″ /]

This one is geared towards those with the weighty followings. I’m talking upwards of 10K followers and the ability to pull in hundreds of likes and comments within minutes.

Instagram Brand Ambassadorship

Sound like you? Then try this on for size.

It’s likely that you are already in a good position to attract substantial sponsorship deals from brands looking to have influencers promote their products.

That means companies might be willing to pay you to regularly showcase their goods to your audience.

Take a look at the right photo for an example.

You could either reach out to a brand’s marketing department directly with a proposal or you could apply through an agency instead.

Ones such as SixPushMedia focus on bringing influential social media users and advertisers together and help to make the job heaps easier for you as they cultivate the crucial connections.

Here are some networks where you can find brands to partner with:

This type of work can have you earning hundreds or even thousands of dollars just through a single post.

Some of the top Instagram users can find themselves earning six figure sums just through this type of partnership. It’s one that takes a ton of work on your end in the initial phase, but once you’re in a strong position you’ll find the deals come flooding in.

If you are involved in travel, you can also take also take a different path as a brand ambassador by becoming a local ambassador. Through this you can arrange tours and instameets based on your expert knowledge and prominence in your area. Set a fee for these meets and, hey presto, you’ve found another income revenue!

[gap height=”20″ /]

3. Sell Your Photos

[gap height=”20″ /]

An obvious one, surely? Why not use Instagram for it sole purpose… to showcase your photography?

If you’re a professional (or amateur but keen!) photographer, Instagram is a great way to advertise and sell your shots to either individuals or agencies. Add a watermark to your snaps and use the captions to list all selling details in a concise manner.

As always, make sure that you have an active presence so that the right type of accounts are following you. Use appropriate hashtags to pull people towards your shots and get a conversation going with influential photography agencies.

There are also a few sites that you can use to actually put your Instagram photos for sale, including:

[gap height=”20″ /]

4. Promote Your Business, Products Or Services

[gap height=”20″ /]

If you run your own business, then Instagram needs to hold an integral place in your marketing matrix.

If you sell products, use it to post beautiful shots that can’t be found on your website. Here are some creative ways to promote your products or services:

  • Behind the scenes. “Behind the scenes” type images tend to be hugely popular – picture gorgeous handmade soaps being gift wrapped, jewellery being pieced together or delicious cakes straight out of the oven. It’s appealing and adds a certain realness to what you’re doing… and people love that.
  • Your customers’ photos: Linked to this is the use of User Generated Content on your account. Get customers to share their images of your products and re-gram (download “Repost for Instagram” app to repost your customers’ photos). This is a proven successful method of selling and would make a great addition to your account. It also calls for you to start up your own unique hashtag which you can then promote to all your customers: it’s a seriously slick way to make yourself stand out from the crowd. For example, White Castle asks their customers to use #MyCrave to their photos. Now when they see them using that hashtag, they can repost (or regram) their photos to their Instagram account. Here’s an example:Instagram Marketing Using Unique Hashtag And Customers Photo
  • Infographics + exclusive offers. You can also market your services through Instagram with snazzy infographics and exclusive offers. Using Instagram to feature special offers is also a great tool to up your follower count as it’s a bonus they won’t find anywhere else.

The brilliant thing about using Instagram to promote your business is you can get mega creative with it. Think outside of the box and really use it to your full advantage. You’re sure to see the sales flying in.

[gap height=”20″ /]

5. Sell Your Instagram Account

[gap height=”20″ /]

Had enough of Instagram? Ready to move on?

Well, you’ll be happy to know that all your hard work hasn’t gone to waste. You can actually sell your Instagram account if (for whatever reason) you can no longer manage it.

There’s a few site that support you with this, two of the best being:

[gap height=”20″ /]

Now’s The Time To Make It Happen!

[gap height=”20″ /]

So now you know the five handy ways to make money through Instagram, you’re all set to start building your empire. Whatever avenue you decide to go down, be sure to always keep your personal brand in mind and treat what you do as a business. The more you understand what it is you can offer, the stronger your message will be to potential collaborators.

Top 30 Instagram Hashtags To Get More Followers

By | Instagram Marketing

If you want to be noticed or make a post or photo searchable, you use a hashtag to allow people to search for the image or post. Everyone uses hashtags and they are the most popular addition to everyday social media posting. There really is no limit to the places that hashtags can be used, and we have compiled a list of the most popular hashtags of them all.

The top 30 hashtags used on Instagram are also likely to be the most searched, so if you want to be noticed by a large group of people, be sure to use one of these extremely popular hashtags.

1) What to Take Away
The number of popular hashtags as well as the subject matter for each of the top 10 include something that people like or something personal. When it comes to Instagram and the ability to share photos, the various hashtags that get the most exposure include something that people want others to see such as #love or #cute. These can be just about anything and will open up the posts to many more people. While hashtags are becoming increasingly popular and changing over time, it is best to do your research to find the most popular ones of the month or year.

2) Choose the Most Popular Hashtags
When you use hashtags for exposure purposes, you should choose the most popular hashtags to ensure that the things you want to be seen more frequently are found more often by those who search for the specific hashtag. For instance, #love has 67,752,150 photos and is likely to be seen more frequently than #sun which only has 14,917,640 photos. By using the most popular hashtags, you are gaining more exposure than using the lowest ranked hashtags.

3) Gaining a Fan Base
You can easily gain a fan base by using these hashtags. For example #tbt or Throw Back Thursday is a very popular occurrence where people share past photos of themselves as well as past posts. Throw Back Thursday is a day specific thing that will encourage people to search it more frequently. Also the #photooftheday or #bestoftheday can encourage people to search and see the things you have posted under that hashtag on a daily basis for exposure. Using hashtags that are searched for daily can help to get more views and show people more of the things you want them to see every day.

6 Instagram Hacks You Need To Know

By | Instagram Marketing

Have you mastered the art of the selfie? Is your thumb sore from double-tapping 24 hours a day? Even if your resume contains the phrase “Professional Instagram Queen,” there are still a bunch of Instagram hacks floating around out there that you might not be aware of — but I’m here to fix that. You can thank me later.

Since its birth in 2010, Instagram has become a way of life for over 150 million people. You can see people sharing everything from their baby’s first steps to their favorite city’s skyline and from their latest manicure to what they had for breakfast. The app has, for better or for worse, changed the way we share our lives with each other — or, you know, our dogs’ and cats’ lives, because our pets also factor prominently in our Instagram activity. The Internet loves animals.

Instagram is a pretty straightforward app. You select a picture or video, add some fancy-shmancy filters, write up a caption, send it forth into the world, and patiently wait for the likes and comments to start flowing. There’s not much more than meets the eye when it comes to Instagram, and that’s one of the many things that makes it so great.

Yet, there’s still a handful of Instagram secrets not nearly enough people are making use of. So, to help you boost your game, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite ‘Gram-related hacks to help you make the most out of your favorite social media pastime.

1. Add Multiple Lines of Text To Your Bio

If you type your Instagram bio manually, you’re restricted to one line of text. Even if you press “Return,” your text will show up as one continuous line. If you want to create a multi-line bio, type it out in your Notes app first and format to your heart’s desire. Then, copy and paste this text into your Instagram bio. When you save, the formatting should be identical to how it shows up in Notes.

2. Add Hashtags In The Comments

A lot of people avoid using hashtags because they hate how clunky it makes their captions look. To avoid this, simply comment on your pictures with the hashtags you want to use. Your image will still show up in hashtag search results exactly the same as if you had put them in the caption.

3. Hide Ads

It seems like you can’t scroll through Instagram these days without a bit o’ “sponsored content” finding its way to your face. If you’re getting annoyed by the constant ads, click on the “Sponsored” label in the upper right-hand corner. This will pull up a menu allowing you to choose to “Hide This.”

4. Save Data

Is your Instagram habit running your data plan dry? The app has a built-in solution with its “use less data” option. To access this, go to your Settings menu and select “Cellular Data Use.” You will be able to turn on an option that will use data efficiently.

5. Hide Photos From Your Profile

If you get tagged in a particularly unfortunate group selfie or you want to purge yourself from a frenemy’s Instagram account, it turns out the power is in your hands! You have the option to show or hide the photo from your profile, as well as the option to de-tag yourself from the image completely. Why Hashtags Matter On Instagram

By | Instagram Marketing | No Comments

Do you want more people to see your Instagram content?

Are you using Instagram hashtags?

Using the right hashtags makes it easier for people to find your Instagram posts and grows your reach.

In this article you’ll discover how to use Instagram hashtags to connect with new people on Instagram.

Why Hashtags Matter on Instagram

Instagram is a powerful social channel. With over 400 million users, an average of 80 million photos posted each day and 3.5 billion likes on any given day, it’s a valuable platform to include in your social media marketing mix.

But how can you get some of those 3.5 billion likes for your business? That’s simple: Use hashtags.

Instagram is a social channel where hashtags are particularly valuable. According toBuffer, accounts with fewer than 1,000 followers that use 11 hashtags with their photos get an average of 77.66 interactions per post.

With hashtags, you can reach a wider audience and increase your followers. You can also do market research on your competitors and connect with people who have specific interests.

Now that it’s clear hashtags are an important part of any Instagram strategy, here are some ways to use them for your business.

#1: Leverage Established Trends

Popular (or trending) hashtags are a great way to develop an Instagram presence and build brand awareness. There are many popular hashtags you can use, including:

  • #photooftheday: Choose a behind-the-scenes photo of your company and share it as your photo of the day.
  • #selfie: Take a selfie while you’re working (or have your employees do it) and share the selfie on your Instagram account.
  • #instalike: Don’t just use this hashtag, also go through other posts that use it and interact with those users.

#2: Tap Into a Popular Theme

Themes can be a lot of fun, and Instagram has some popular themed hashtags that you can use with your Instagram posts. Here are a few to consider for your business:

  • #TBT or #throwbackthursday: Throwback Thursday is a great way to reminisce about your company. On Thursdays, share your first dollar made or photos from a special event. You can even include cute or hilarious high school photos.
  • #motivationalmonday: Add some positivity to your feed by participating in Motivational Monday. Share quotes or life lessons from your professional life.
  • #followfriday: Showcase photos from other users and encourage your followers to follow them with this hashtag. You might even get a reciprocal #followfriday tag from those users. This is also a great way to say thank you to your client base.

#3: Share an Inspirational Quote

Quotes are a great way to get traction and interaction for visual content, and they work as well on Instagram as on your other social channels. Use image tools like Canva to create high-quality image quotes to share. Here are some hashtags to use with them:

  • #instaquote: Use this hashtag with your quote posts. Also look through other tagged posts to boost your client engagement and share something interesting with other users.
  • #quoteoftheday: Whether you use #quoteoftheday or #qotd, you can get some traction from other Instagram users. Consider creating an editorial calendar and plan quotes to share throughout the week using this hashtag.

Share quotes from authors and industry leaders, as well as from your blog posts. Quotes that reflect your brand and goal are typically good choices.

#4: Tell People What You’re Doing Now

Telling people what you’re doing now is a great way to make your Instagram account fresh and inspiring to users. Plus, balancing business with fun is a great way to create a following on Instagram. Try these hashtags:

  • #amreading: Are you reading an interesting book about your industry? Or the latest Stephen King bestseller? Share it with your audience to spark conversation and make new connections.
  • #amwriting: Whether you’re an author or simply writing a blog post, #amwriting is a great tag to use. Plus, it helps drum up interest for your next post.
  • #WIDN (What I’m Doing Now): Showing your audience the real you adds personality to your brand. Use this hashtag to share what you’re doing right now, such as taking a yoga break, drinking chai tea at your desk or strolling through the local park.

#5: Drive Traffic to Your Blog

Use the following hashtags to promote a new blog post or show your Instagram audience that you’re working on one:

  • #blogging: While you’re writing a new blog post, snap a photo of your computer and keyboard, add an Instagram filter and share the image with your followers using this hashtag.
  • #newblogpost: Once you’ve published a new blog post, share your featured image on Instagram and add this hashtag. Direct people to the link in your bio, and you’ll start driving traffic to your blog from Instagram.
  • #instablogger: This is another tag to add to your blogging hashtag repertoire.

Over to You

Check out the Instagram hashtag suggestions above. Consider adding one or several of them to your future Instagram posts to see how they improve your visibility with new users.

Experiment with other hashtags to see which ones are the best fit for your business and target audience. As you keep an eye out for new hashtag trends to try using with your content, remember they should always be relevant to your industry to get the right type of traction and interaction from your customers and prospects.

How to grow your blog’s traffic with Instagram

By | Instagram Marketing

Are you using Instagram to market your business?

Want to direct followers to your blog?

With a few simple tactics, you can generate quality website traffic from Instagram.

In this article you’ll discover how to use Instagram to drive traffic to your blog.

#1: Add a Website Link to Your Bio

The most common way to lead Instagram followers to your website is to use the “link in bio” tactic. Instagram lets you include one clickable link in your bio, so make sure you use it effectively. To add a link, go to Edit Profile and type it in the Website text box.

In Birchbox’s Instagram bio below, their link directs followers to a customer appreciation day promotion on the company’s website.

With the tool Have2Have.it, you can use your bio link to direct followers to a page with the same look and feel as your Instagram feed, where they can click images to purchase your products or read your content.

The New York Times has a Have2Have.it link in their Instagram bio. When followers click the link, they’re taken to a curated page with the top stories of the day. Users can click on an image to see the story behind it.

With an analytics dashboard, you can gain key insights to see what content performs best. Focus on high-performing posts to form a content strategy.

By tracking clicks on Instagram, you can increase revenue and subscribers to online content (such as blog posts), newsletters or email campaigns. Of course, you’ll want totrack your click-through rate, so use a shortened Bitly link or vanity URL to know where your clicks are coming from.

Overall, you can use this tactic for any links including an ecommerce website, YouTube channel or company blog. To take it a step further, create an Instagram landing page that captures email addresses through downloadable content like an ebook. The landing page design should mirror the look of your Instagram feed so there’s a visual connection for the user.

#2: Place a Call to Action on Images

Design Instagram photos that convert. You can layer a call to action and your website URL directly onto an aesthetically pleasing photo.

In Canva’s post below, the image has a call to action asking followers to enter a contest for a year of free access. The photo caption then directs users to click the link in Canva’s bio.

This technique is beneficial for Instagram contests where you ask your followers to enter their email information on your website. Now, you have a strong piece of shareable branded content that drives followers to your contest.

#3: Include a URL in Videos

Instagram video brings digital storytelling to life. In fact, videos on Instagram generate three times more inbound links than image posts, so it’s definitely worthwhile to invest in a 15-second narrative.

Brands like Dollar Shave Club use video in innovative ways to spice up their Instagram feed. Their videos work similarly to a television commercial.

Dollar Shave Club’s videos include the URL in a text overlay and a voiceover(“Shave with a fresh blade anytime; try Dollar Shave Club.com”) that further drives Instagram followers to their website. The videos are quick, fun and engaging, making viewers want to learn more.

#4: Invest in Instagram Ads

Instagram recently announced it was opening its API to all companies and brands. By investing in the platform, you can target the right audience demographic through people’s interests. With an ad spend alongside your Instagram strategy, you’re likely to see an increase in website visits and ecommerce conversions.

Clickable links in Instagram ads give you an opportunity not only to be creative, but also let your followers learn more about your digital campaigns or attribute direct revenue from Instagram.

There are three types of sponsored Instagram ads: image, video and carousel.

Image ads are single photos that tell a story with their imagery.

Video ads differ from organic Instagram videos. They can be up to 30 seconds long, and you can shoot in portrait or landscape format.

Carousel ads enhance your Instagram storytelling because they can include up to four photos. Retailers, car companies and non-profits have been at the forefront of this new ad product. All three types of ads include a clickable Learn More button that takes followers to your website.

To create ads in Instagram, follow these steps in Facebook’s Power Editor.

With Instagram ads, you can create awareness in a broader audience and promote campaigns that prioritize conversions by tracking sales and views.

#5: Leverage the Reach of Influencers

Sometimes you need an extra push to build brand awareness and extend your reach. By working with influencers, you can amplify your message.

Connect with influencers in your niche or industry (whether that’s fashion, beauty, sports or other verticals) to create effective Instagram content. Influencers capture followers’ attention because they’re recognizable and trusted for their product advice and reviews.

When working with influencers, make sure they use effective calls to action to send their followers to your website. This can be done through Instagram videos or with powerful copy that links to your website.

Final Thoughts

As Instagram becomes a revenue-based social channel predicted to outperform Twitter and Google in ad sales by 2017, make sure your Instagram strategy is focused on driving leads to your website. You can learn about follower data to form content strategies, drive revenue and brand awareness from clickable links and promote blog posts right on the platform.
